Great American Rail-Trail

How about doing a Coast 2 Coast in the US? Not with the car but with the bicycle.

Rails-to-Trails is working on it to make it possible. This bold project started a year ago and the process is still ongoing.

This incredible bike path would connect 12 states in the United States. It will cover nearly 3,700 miles of railroad tracks and other multi-purpose trails. Many miles exist and are available now, but there is a shortage principally in Wyoming, Nebraska, and Montana. That will be the great challenge that the company will face.

In addition to the fascinating adventure that people from all over the world can experience while cycling in a safe route from coast to coast, visiting extraordinary places, routes and cities, there are other factors to consider.

First, the impact that this railway will have on the economic level. All the various cities will have tremendous opportunities to improve their tourism sector and their appeal as green cities.

Second, the messages conveyed by Rails-to-Trails. The importance of sustainability and the possibility of spreading the concept of a zero-waste holiday or training tour. Furthermore, the relevance of being active and playing sports (which can be cycling, running, hiking, or just walking).

Last but not least, it can be an example of how sustainable sports projects can be profitable ideas that will help communities. It can convince potential investors that this will be the right place to invest.

I would like to try the Great American Rail-Trail when it's finished. It will be an extraordinary experience.

What about you? Will you want to try it?
